Did you know?Lightning keeps plants alive. The intense heat of lightning forces nitrogen in the air to mix with oxygen, forming nitrogen oxides that are soluble in water and fall to the ground in rain. Plants need nitrates to survive, so without lightning, plants could not live. |
The marginata is a member of the ancient dragon tree family and is found growing wild in Mauritius. It is a beautiful plant, with wonderful sword like leaves. A fairly slow growing plant, the marginata eventually reaches about 3 to 4 metres in height. It has bold, dramatic foliage, with a wonderful form that looks great in large tubs on a patio or balcony. A popular plant that needs little attention, the marginata requires a minimum temperature of 15 °C, and is more tolerant than most plants of dry soil and irregular watering. Because the marginata requires minimal care, it is very popular in offices where the constant heat and light suits it’s growing requirements.
